The course dates are: April 22, 23, 27, 28, and 29, 2023 from 0700 X 1700/day. All session will be in the Philadelphia, PA region. An email will be sent to registrants prior to the start of class. The email will outline expected knots, bends, hitches, and Mechanical Advantage System that will be used in the program along with online content to review prior to the first day of class.
THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY LEVEL ROPE PROGRAM. This fast-paced Tower Rescue Technician program has been developed to address the needs of Rescue Technicians in today’s environments. Participants will have the unique opportunity to climb two different tower cranes and multiple other towers / structures. Through classroom training, practical application, and scenario-based instruction, responders attending this program will learn about the following:
Scene size-up, incident management, hazard recognition, and radiofrequency (RF) hazards.
Tower types including tower cranes, water towers, amusement rides, smokestacks and more.
Fall protection.
FAA markings & lighting.
Physical and psychological limitations.
Tower climbing (ladders, step pegs, and lattice).
100% tie off utilizing twin lanyards/positioning devices and establishing a hasty personal fall arrest system (PFAS).
Engineered fall protection systems.
Ground-based rescue & use of aerial devices.
Authorized Climber / Rescuer and Unauthorized Climbers.
Luffing boom & hammer head tower cranes.
